Wow! Not sure why it took me so long to discover this stuff.
After years of blowing into my tone armes and licking my cartridge’s to make a good connection I think it finally took a toll on my needles. I was finding it more and more difficult to get good tracking on SERATO. BTW. I’m using Technics 1200’s and SHURE M44’s. Bad tracking = more blowing and licking. (Shut you face, with you dirty mind) Finally a can of this contact spray was laying around this club I was working at so I gave it a try. Quick spray in the tone arm, then stylus and nodes on back. Its a pretty powerful little spray similar to compressed air. VWhen I connected it there was perfect tracking! Now I keep a can with me just in case and try and use it before and after a gig.
If you get some make sure it is the kind that is safe on plastics.

Bocas Del Toro is a little group of islands right on Panama’s Caribbean border with Costa Rica. It was visited by Columbus and settled by English Pirates and now boasts a wide range of water sports and outdoor activities.
from: http://www.enlacespanama.com/bocasdeltoropanama.html
“The archipelago of Bocas del Toro is the essence and Panamanian Caribbean mirror. It is made up 9 islands, 51 keys and 200 islets. This archipelago is the perfect combination of nature and historic and cultural traditions with a captivating variety of aquatic species, coral reefs, mangroves, tropical forests, beaches, crystal waters, rain accompanied disturbing of all types of flora and fauna imaginable.
In the tropical rainforests of the islands of Bocas del Toro, have registered more than 300 species of vascular plants and four species nesting beaches of endangered sea turtles worldwide, including the Green turtle, loggerhead and hawksbill .
The population of the province is made up of Indians mixed with Creoles. The Creoles are descendants of black Protestants, their language is called “guariguari” which is a mixture of Afro-Antillean, Ngobe Bugle, Spanish and French. The “guariguari” is also spoken in Colon and Panama, excluding the dialect ngobe bugle, but with Jamaican expression. Most Indians remain in remote areas and practice subsistence agriculture in their communities.
For all this, Bocas del Toro has a rich ethnic culture, which is reflected through the traditions, customs, cuisine, music, dances and other events Afro-Antilles, combined with the indigenous culture that still remains intact and we are magically transported the roots of America.”
But who cares about all that…
Bocas is definitely a stop on the backpacker’s party circuit.

Hey folks,
Just wanted to share some pictures from my trip / gig in Santa Teresa. Big thanks to B-One and Aire Hostel for sponsoring the event. It was a great time and one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited. I will def be returning to Santa Teresa and the Pacific side of Costa Rica real soon!
On this trip I was DJing a party and backing up local Limon/Puerto Viejo Reggae artist B-One. Woke up around 5am to catch the bus to San Jose (the capital of Costa Rica). Its about a 5hr trip. Buses Yay!
Here is the view from my house at 5:30 am

And so my journey begins… Filled with anticipation the day finally arrives for me to depart. I’ve said my goodbyes and I am all packed up (way over packed). I decided to bring along some small production gear to keep myself productive (haha) while I am out there as well as my DJing equipment, shorts, one pair of jeans, one long sleeved shirt, lots of t-shirts and a bunch of small electronics that some friends in CR asked me to bring along.
I had 4 bags: 2 check-in and 2 carry-on (that I was gonna try and sneak by them) a backpack and roll abord. Now… with Continental you get one free check in for international up to 50lbs. (mine was 70lbs, an additional $50) and an extra bag is like $30 or something. I already knew I would have to pay the extra $50 for my overweight monster of a bag.
When I arrive at check in there is an option to upgrade to First Class for $80 plus a free extra bag hmmm. ok. I was thinking maybe I should treat myself one last time before I subjected to all the “comforts” of 3rd world living ie. cold water showers (when there is running water) NO AC, rickety 6hr bus rides again with no AC, mosquitos and more mosquitos etc.
I said yes to the upgrade giving the lady at the counter a big smile. When she handed me the receipt I noticed she did not credit me with the free extra bag, I notified her and she apologized and said she would credit me. I leaned over the counter and jokingly said “You know, you really don’t have to charge me for anything if you don’t want to” she gave a little smile and walked away. When she returned she handed me back a new receipt and sure enough… she credited me back for EVERYTHING! The bag, the heavy bag and First Class upgrade. I’m feeling good!
